A Spring Thing: From Guns to Roses

SARATOGA, WY — Saturday, May 4 is the day to begin planning to make the most of the short Wyoming summer by joining us for a

All day at the Platte Valley Community Center. Visit with vendors and organizations who have the gear, advice and ideas you’re looking for! Enjoy workshops on topics ranging from elementary firearms safety for young people and adults, to foraging for AND cultivating delicious wild mushrooms, to gourmet camp cuisine! Learn about preserving the fruits and veggies from your garden and maybe some new gardening techniques! Bring the kids for special activities including seedling potting and building and flying their very own kites! Enjoy a meal from area food trucks while you check out the latest outdoor vehicles! You might even find a new hobby – or a one-of-a-kind container for that flower arrangement you’ve been imagining since January!

2:00 PM – Familiarization with Fermentation, with Melissa Robinson of Saratoga Community Garden – Shively Room

(Exhibitors note: event personnel will be on hand and the PVCC open for set up on Friday, May 3 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday morning from 7:00 AM until doors open to the public at 9:00 AM)

BAREFOOT BROOK: If you love flowers but would rather someone grew them for you, come talk to Brooke Seitz about signing up for a subscription for fresh blooms from her local greenhouse! But if you still want to grow your own, come talk to her anyway, because she has tips and advice on raising flowers at altitude. Brooke also does weddings and other occasions.

THE BERGQUIST FAMILY – Birdwatchers, get inspired! Francis, Greg and Janice Bergquist have been photographing the Good Times Valley’s astonishing variety of wildlife – especially BIRDS – for decades, and they’ve turned their Saratoga yard into a birdie paradise. Greg and Janice will be on hand with a selection of their beautiful work for sale and, if you’re very nice, might share a tip or two on how to attract more birds and other beauties to your own yard.

BOX BAR CROSS – Meet the Good Times Valley’s new tour company and find out how you can book a good old fashioned horse and buggy ride around the area. Show our beautiful land- or townscape to your guests from out of town in a new (old) way, or treat yourself!

INCREDIBLE EDIBLE MICROGREENS – Learn all about microgreens — how to grow them, why to grow them, and what to when you’ve got them, with local cultivators Sheba Autumn and Andrea Zeller.

LESLIE JOHNSON – A local antiques enthusiast and upcycler, Leslie spent the cold months turning stuff most of us throw away (or stash in the garage because it might be useful again someday) into unusual and attractive containers for planting flowers, herbs, heck, even tomatoes!

M.O.P.S. (Mothers of Pre Schoolers) – Get yourself a yummy treat or two from their bake sale and find out how their mutual support network for parents of young children can benefit you or someone you know here in the Good Times Valley!

OLD GRIZZ KNIFE WORK – Shop a selection of Wyoming-made knives, ask a bladesmith a question, find out if your favorite old knife can be saved or just make arrangements to get it sharpened.
